Safe for Every Skin Type

A tattoo is made by depositing various colored pigments under the skin surface. Many methods have been tried to remove tattoos including surgical removal, use of various acids and bleaching agents, destruction by heat or cold, over tattooing with flesh colored pigment, sanding or dermabrading, and various lasers.

What factors should be considered before the treatment?

It may not be possible to remove 100% of your tattoo. Certain pigments are especially stubborn and may require multiple treatments for lightening or use of any alternative laser. A series of treatments may be required averaging 4 to 8 sessions for amateur tattoos and 8 to 12 sessions for professional tattoos. There may be a crust or scab on the skin requiring special care with topical antibiotic ointment, bandages, and limited activity in some cases for a period of 2 to 3 weeks after treatment.

What are the risks?

  • Paradoxical darkening can occur in some facial cosmetic tattoos (eyeliner, lip liner) and some colored tattoos. Skin hyperpigmentation (brownish or dark discoloration) or hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin) may occur.
  • Indentation or depression of the skin may occur.
  • Skin texture change or scarring may occur.
